"It is good and necessary that the children of Narva can receive modern, high level medical treatment here in their home town," said Ieva Ilves, who today visited the children's ward of Narva Hospital, which is run by doctor Reet Välja, who has worked in this hospital for over thirty years.

Ieva Ilves, who met with doctors and nurses of the children's ward of Narva Hospital, described the place as homely, friendly, caring and protective towards children.

She gave every child a book by the Latvian poet Inese Zandere, entitled "Annaliisa analüüs" (Annaliisa's Analysis), which was recently translated by Guntars Godinš and Leelo Tungal and published by Tammerraamat. Therefore, the event in the children's ward of Narva Hospital was effectively the first launch of the book.

"Get well soon!" wrote Ieva Ilves into each book.

"I do believe that this book will help children in hospital to overcome their fear of the unknown and give support during difficult times. They may even find a joke or two from the book to make them laugh. I really do believe that this will be interesting for children, and of comfort to them," explained Ieva Ilves to "Põhjarannik" newspaper.

According to her, "Annaliisa analüüs" (Annaliisa's Analysis) could also be used as an extra lesson in the Estonian language.

Ieva Ilves, with support from the Estonian Children's Literature Centre, will also send "Annaliisa's Analysis", to the children's wards of 33 book merry-go-round hospitals that offer children an opportunity for reading.
