Ieva Ilves, Patron of SOS Children's Villages, today paid a visit to Põltsamaa Children's Village where she met with parents and children of the Children's Village. This was her first visit to an SOS Children's Village.

CEO of SOS Children's Villages, Margus Oro, introduced the current activities of children's villages to Ieva Ilves.

"As a mother, I can understand the work done to ensure the welfare and ability of children to cope only too well. I attach special importance to the mission of SOS Children's Villages – to offer a home, family and support to children who are without their biological parents," told Ieva Ilves. "In Põltsamaa, one can clearly witness how the children's village will help children cope successfully and prepare them to live their lives in full once they are independent."

In Estonia, there are four SOS Children's Villages: in Keila, Põltsamaa, Juuru and Narva-Jõesuu. SOS Children's Villages have four main spheres of activity – children's villages, youth homes, family strengthening and education programmes; every year, a total number of 800 young people and adults find support here.
