President Ilves to chair meeting of the Cyber Security Council at the World Economic Forum in Abu Dhabi

25.10.2015

President Toomas Hendrik Ilves will depart for a visit to the World Economic Forum in Abu Dhabi to chair a meeting of the Cyber Security Council, which he has led since last year at the request of the World Economic Forum.

The annual Summit of the Global Agenda, a meeting organised by the World Economic Forum that focuses on global issues, is about to begin in Abu Dhabi. The Network of Global Agenda Councils was established by the World Economic Forum back in 2008; today, the Network involves 80 councils. Each council consists of 15-20 globally acknowledged experts from the private and public sector who exchange ideas on some of the most important global and regional issues. The aim is to integrate various visions into global co-operation and decision-making processes. The Estonian Head of State chairs one of the councils that is focused on cyber security issues.

Apart from chairing the session of the council, President Ilves will also take part in a public discussion on the digitisation of industry and meet with various sectoral leaders from different countries.

President Ilves will return to Estonia on 28 October.
