Evelin Ilves, who yesterday paid a visit to the Finnish-Estonian Basic School in Helsinki and the first Estonian kindergarten in Helsinki, today gave a presentation at the largest event to showcase Estonia in Finland – the St. Martin's Day Fair.

Evelin Ilves and estophile Marika Tammeaid spoke today in front of the audience at the St. Martin's Day Fair in Helsinki Cultural Centre, Kaapelitehdas, where they discussed cultural relations between Estonia and Finland, healthy eating habits and Estonia as an attractive tourism destination.

"I am really proud that the Tuglas Society has organised the St. Martin's Day Fair, which has been one of the largest Estonian events outside Estonia for the past 29 years," told Evelin Ilves. "The Tuglas Society is doing wonderful, dedicated work in introducing Estonia and this is worthy of our acknowledgment and respect."

At the St. Martin's Day Fair, which was visited by 190,000 people last year, approximately one hundred performers and more than 150 exponents introduce Estonia as a tourism destination, Estonian cuisine handicraft, art and culture. This year, the focus is on Läänemaa and Haapsalu. The Finnish-Estonian cultural association, the Tuglas Society, has been organising the St. Martin's Day Fair since 1983. Enterprise Estonia Tourism Development Centre is a major partner in the event.

Yesterday, the spouse of the President visited Latokartano Basic School in Helsinki, which teaches students in both the Finnish and Estonian languages, and the first Estonian kindergarten, Anni.
