Evelin Ilves: the strength of society depends on how much we all notice

09.01.2012

AS Wendre, a manufacturer of home textiles, has begun  a charity project in co-operation with Tallinn Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Estonian Midwives Association. Every child born in Estonia over the next three years will receive a bed set, consisting of a blanket and a pillow. Approximately 45,000 children are expected to be born in Estonia during that period.

"Our attitude towards children and the elderly is an indicator of our maturity and concern as a society," told Mrs. Evelin Ilves, who is a patron of Tallinn Children’s Hospital Foundation. "The strength and safety of our society depends on the attitude of every one of us – noticing, desire and courage to get something done, regardless of whether we are speaking of the state, companies, communities or individuals. In a society as tiny as ours, every individual – either small or big – should be treated as a nugget of gold. By their families, by all of us. This is exactly what we want to confirm here today, together. I admire and thank Wendre, a good Pärnumaa company, for the development of such a great idea, as what could be better for a new world citizen than a warm and soft welcome!"

The first bed sets were today handed over in the Women’s and Children’s Clinic of Pärnu Hospital by Mrs Evelin Ilves, patron of Tallinn Children’s Hospital Foundation, Hanno Pevkur, Minister of Social Affairs, and Peter Hunt, Head of the Supervisory Board of AS Wendre.
