School lunch cookbook by Evelin Ilves

09.09.2014

Ajakirjade Kirjastus has published a cookbook compiled by Evelin Ilves and photographer Hele-Mai Alamaa entitled "Söögivahetund. Koolikokkadelt kodukööki" (Lunch Break. School Cooks for Home Kitchens).

The spouse of the President of the Republic, Evelin Ilves, and photographer Hele-Mai Alamaa have toured Estonian schools over the past two years. They have sat at tables with children and tasted the food. The have asked the students about their favourite dishes and cooks for tips. When the children said: "I would like to eat meals at home as good as at school," it was obvious that school cooks had put their hearts into the meals.

The best school cafeteria meals that can be cooked at home have been bound between these covers to recognise the work of school cafeteria cooks. A hobby cook and food blogger, Tuuli Mathisen, helped in matching the creations of the school cooks to domestic kitchen requirements. The compilation of the book was supported by AS Selver and all schools in Estonia will receive a free copy – with compliments from Tomra Baltic OÜ.

AS Ajakirjade Kirjastus publishes more than 30 magazines and leads the market, offering Estonian magazines to more than 600,000 readers. Apart from magazines, custom-issued magazines and books are also published. Every year, Ajakirjade Kirjastus publishes approximately 80-90 books, the most well-known being the "100 rooga" (100 Dishes) cookbook series.
