President of Afghanistan to arrive on a state visit to Estonia

Today, the President of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, will arrive on a state visit to Estonia at the invitation of the President of the Republic, Toomas Hendrik Ilves.

This is the first visit to Estonia by a Head of State of Afghanistan. Apart from the President of the Republic, President Karzai will also meet with the Speaker of the Riigikogu, Ene Ergma, and the Prime Minister, Andrus Ansip. The meetings will focus on relations between the two countries and on Afghanistan after 2014, when the army and police force of Afghanistan will take over primary responsibility for security in their country.
