President Ilves participates in a representative trans-Atlantic security and foreign policy conference

The President, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, flew to Germany today where he will participate in the Wehrkunde representative security and foreign policy conference, which takes place in Munich.

Over the next three days, influential politicians from Europe and America as well as security and foreign policy experts will discuss issues such as the Euro crisis and the European Union, geopolitics and energy, the future of the Euro-Atlantic security community, cyber security, the stability of Southeast Europe and the Caucasus, diplomacy in the digital era and the situation in Mali and Syria.

The annual Wehrkunde, or the Munich Security Conference, which has also been called the smithy of Euro-Atlantic security, has been taking place since 1962.
