Mr Andrzej Duda, President of Poland, is in Estonia today on a private visit
26.06.2016
The President, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, will tonight at Ärma host the Head of State of Poland, Andrzej Duda. The presidents of the two allied countries will discuss at dinner the current challenges in Europe and along the trans-Atlantic security axis, which are related to the wish of the majority of the population of the United Kingdom to leave the European Union, and the upcoming NATO summit in Warsaw.
President Ilves has considered close relations with Poland as one of the foreign policy goals of Estonia during his term in office and is quite sure that close and open communication with Poland will only contribute to the strength of Europe in general.
President Duda made his first foreign visit to Estonia on 23 August last year. It was then agreed that he would also pay a visit to President Ilves's home farm in Ärma, as did the previous heads of state of Poland, Lech Kaczyński and Bronisław Komorowski.
