President Ilves to meet in Brussels with the leaders of the European Council and the European Parliament

President Toomas Hendrik Ilves is to take a two-day work visit to Brussels where he will meet with the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, and the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz. The Estonian Head of State will also give a presentation at the round table of the Friends of Europe think-tank.

Meetings with both Donald Tusk and Martin Schulz are expected to focus on the biggest challenges faced by Europe today, which include migration and security. Resolving these issues requires continued strength, decisiveness and solidarity from Europe. President Ilves will meet too with Andrus Ansip, Vice President for the Digital Single Market of the European Commission, to discuss some issues linked to developments in the sphere of information technology.

The Estonian Head of State will also meet with the President of Slovenia, Borut Pahor.

President Ilves will give a presentation at a digital society panel of a high-level seminar organised by Friends of Europe think-tank. The first President of the European Council, Herman van Rompuy, the first Vice President of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans, former Prime Minister of Italy, Mario Monti and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carl Bildt, along with many business leaders, journalists and cultural figures will take part in the seminar organised to analyse the problems currently faced by Europe.
