President Ilves: Estonia understands Nepal’s grief

"It is with great sadness that I have learnt about the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal on Saturday, April 25. Thousands have lost their lives and have been injured," wrote President Toomas Hendrik Ilves today in his letter of condolence to President Ram Baran Yadav of Nepal.

President Ilves expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the victims and conveyed his sympathy to the injured and to all who have lost their homes in this disaster.

"The Government of Estonia held an emergency meeting and decided to dispatch a 15-member response team to the disaster area to help with rescue efforts," wrote President Ilves in his letter.

Estonia understands Nepal's grief because the lives of our alpinists were also touched by the catastrophe, said President Ilves.
