President Ilves to open “The Limits of Order” Lennart Meri conference

President Toomas Hendrik Ilves will today give a presentation at the opening panel of "The Limits of Order" conference dedicated to the core idea of the Lennart Meri Conference. He will focus on European and trans-Atlantic security and threats that we have to face as a consequence of the activities of Russia.

With the Estonian Head of State, the eighth Lennart Meri Conference, an event that focuses on foreign and security policies, will be opened by the Speaker of the Parliament of Poland and long-term Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radosław Sikorski, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, Ana Palacio, and the Director of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, François Heisbourg.

Tomorrow, Preisdent Ilves will participate in a discussion at the conference; his conversation partner in the field of Internet freedom will be Jean-Jacques Sahel, Vice President of Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), a body the organises the maintenance of the global Internet. The moderator will be Edward Lucas, a journalist and author of a number of books.

Tonight, President Ilves will host guests of the conference at Tallinn Seaplane Harbour.

The Lennart Meri Conference, an event organised by the International Centre for Defence and Security, is one of the most important annual international foreign policy and security events.
