28.03.2014

The President, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, called the Prime Minister of Moldova, Iurie Leancà, to confirm Estonia's support for Moldova's continued euro-integration.

"Moldova is poised to enter into an Association and Free Trade Agreement with the European Union and is an example to several countries in the area. I hope that with its democratic and market economy reforms it is also a model for the new government of Ukraine," stated President Ilves.

"Visa-free travel in the European Union for the citizens of Moldova, opening the EU market to wines from Moldova, plus closer and closer co-operation are all clear examples of the trust that Europe has in the reform policies pursued by the government and parliamentary majority of Moldova," told the Estonian Head of State.

"Moldova has dependable allies in Europe and Estonia is among its closest friends," emphasised President Ilves.

According to the President, information dissemination on European integration among Moldovan society that is accessible by everyone is something that will allow people to understand Europe and the European Union better.
