Statement of the President, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, in response to the Boston bomb attacks

16.04.2013

Estonia's thoughts of condolence and support are with the next of kin and friends of those people who died in the explosions yesterday in Boston, and we wish all of those who were injured a speedy recovery.

The explosions in Boston have reminded us, once again, that there are people with bad intentions among us, people who do not treat human lives and values as sacred.

Unfortunately, the explosions in Boston will bring to mind again how important our internal security is as well as the constant vigilance and readiness of the services that strive to root out evil before it pounces. We must do everything possible, both at home and internationally, to ensure that events such as those that occurred in Boston are not repeated again anywhere, no matter how small.

The United States of America does not stand alone during this difficult time.

Toomas Hendrik Ilves
President of the Republic
