President Toomas Hendrik Ilves left on Sunday for a one-day visit to North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The purpose of the visit is to promote bilateral relations and, above all, economic co-operation between the two countries.

President Ilves will open the Honorary Consulate of Estonia in Dusseldorf, meet with the Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, Mr. Jürgen Rüttgers, and participate in a round table discussion with entrepreneurs.

During his visit, the head of state will be accompanied by an 11-member business delegation. The president will return to Estonia on Monday.
