President Ilves will participate in the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly

President Toomas Hendrik Ilves flew to New York today to participate in the work of the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly.

At the UN General Assembly, the Estonian Head of State will speak about climate change, the need for international cooperation in guaranteeing cybersecurity, and crisis regulation.

President Ilves will also participate in a conference on climate change organized by the UN, where he will give a speech on behalf of the European Union, at the request of Portugal, the presiding country of the European Union.

In New York, the Estonian Head of State will meet with the UN General-Secretary, and the Presidents of Macedonia, Slovakia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, philanthropist George Soros, and participate in a meeting of the Baltic Presidents.

During his New York visit, President Ilves will also visit Columbia University, meet with the students and faculty, and give a lecture.

The Estonian Head of State will also participate in a reception organized at the New York Estonian House.

The Estonian Head of State will be back in Europe on the morning of September 27th, and will immediately fly to Gothenburg, where Estonia will play a key role at the prestigious book fair.

President Ilves will arrive back in Estonia on the evening of September 28th.
