"In Narva, just like any other place in Estonia, entrepreneurship and enterprises are important, as these translate into jobs and the ability of people to have a livelihood," said President Toomas Hendrik Ilves who yesterday and today visited several different companies in various fields of business in the border town.

The Head of State described yesterday's meeting with young animators from S.H.A.R.K. Animationem Studio as surprising; they introduce fresh blood into Estonian animated films. They also teach children and adults to open the doors to the world of multimedia.

President Ilves also visited InterVacTechnology, an ambitious Narva company that is among the few in Europe to manufacture high-tech vacuum systems, which are used to collect blood.

Today, the Head of State visited Micro-Fix, which started in 1993 in Narva with six people but now has more than 300 employees and manufactures titan medicine supplies for a number of foreign markets.

"Narva has good skilled labour and strong working habits – this is valuable capital for many entrepreneurs who look for locations to establish businesses or for expansion," said President Ilves. "The role of the state is to be a reasonable and flexible partner for entrepreneurs, a partner that is also aware of regional differences, where appropriate."
