President Ilves to chair the meeting of the cyber security council at the World Economic Forum in Dubai

President Ilves will fly to Dubai today to chair the meeting of the Cyber Security Council at the World Economic Forum, which he assumed the helm of this year at the request of the World Economic Forum.

The annual meeting organised by the World Economic Forum of councils that focus on global issues is taking place in Dubai. The Network of Global Agenda Councils was established by the World Economic Forum in 2008 and, today, 80 councils belong to the network. Each council consists of 15-20 globally recognised experts from the private and public sectors, who exchange ideas on the global and regional issues that require the most attention. The aim is to integrate different visions into global co-operation and decision-making processes.

Once a year, all the councils meet in Dubai. The Estonian Head of State chairs one of the councils, the cyber security council. The first meeting of this council will take place on Sunday.

Apart from chairing the meeting of the council, President Ilves will also take part in a public discussion that focuses on the future of Internet and will meet with leaders of different countries.

The Head of State will return to Estonia on Tuesday.
