President Ilves to speak at Visby foreign policy conference

Today, President Toomas Hendrik Ilves flew to Sweden at the invitation of Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt for a working visit where he will be one of the key speakers at the Visby international foreign and security policy conference.

The Estonian Head of State will speak about the drastic changes in the security situation in Europe as a whole and specifically in our Nordic region in the last seven months as well as deepening trans-Atlantic partnership in maintaining and strengthening the security of democratic countries in this region.

The conference, at which high-level representatives from the Nordic and Baltic countries, Germany, Poland and USA will participate, will focus on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and its impact and the possibilities for restoring peace and security in Europe, as well as trans-Atlantic cooperation with NATO partner countries.

President Ilves will return to Estonia on 5 October.
