President Toomas Hendrik Ilves talked about policies and actions his government had taken to address cyber threats in reaction to a 2007 cyberattack Estonia faced that shut down essential computer systems. Following his remarks the respective chair and ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, Representatives Mike Rogers (R-MI) and Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD), and Ambassador Paula Dobriansky discussed the role of international alliances in protecting nations from cyber attacks.
