05.04.2011

Tomorrow in Jõgeva Cultural Centre, Mrs. Evelin Ilves, as patron, will launch the 1st Women’s Dance Festival entitled “NaiseLugu” (A Woman’s Story), which will take place on 12 June at Jõgeva City Stadium. Media representatives are welcome to attend Jõgeva Cultural Centre tomorrow at 13:00 to take part in announcing the dance festival.

The dance groups that initiated the organisation of the dance festival will be present at the announcement of the dance festival – the Jõgevahe Pere folklore society: the Meie Mari folk dance society: Uhka, a female dance group from Jõgeva Cultural Centre: and Kaaratsim, a folk dance group from Jõgeva town – in total, more than 8 dancers shall perform a medley of dances, which will be performed at the summer event.

According to Mrs. Evelin Ilves, she feels proud that accomplished women live and function in the heart of Estonia, who have taken the task of organising the dance festival and of summoning dancing women from all over Estonia to Jõgeva.

"It is a major enterprise that deserves a lot of recognition, as it tells the story of Estonian woman through dance in a way that appreciates family and is considerate. I feel great pleasure in being a patron of this event,” Mrs. Evelin Ilves told.

Ten new dances were selected for the festival in the competition and one new song was written as well. The vocals for two musical pieces were provided by Hele Kõrve from Jõgeva.

Among other participants in tomorrow’s event are Jõgeva mayor Kalmer Lain, Jõgeva county governor Viktor Svjatõšev, Jõgeva municipal mayor Enn Kurg, Aivar Kokk M.P., Palamuse municipal mayor Urmas Astel, employees of Jõgeva county, city and municipal governments, a representative of the SOS Children’s Village Estonian Association and organising and staging staff of “Woman’s Story”, the First Estonian Women’s Dance Festival.
