President Toomas Hendrik Ilves will tomorrow/on Monday depart for a two day working visit to the Kingdom of Denmark to present the e-health report of the international European Union eHealth working group and to give a presentation at the Danish Institute for International Studies.

On Monday, the Estonian Head of State will present the e-health report of the international European Union working group, "Reorganisation of Healthcare in Europe by 2020", to the ministers of health care and social affairs of the European Union member states and representatives of the European Commission. In the afternoon, President Ilves will take part in a panel discussion at the e-health conference with the commissioners of the European Commission and the healthcare minister of Denmark.

On Tuesday, the Estonian Head of State will visit the exhibition of innovative health care solutions that is to be opened in Copenhagen. In the afternoon, President Ilves will meet with the Speaker of the Danish Parliament, Mogens Lykketoft, and give a presentation on the future of Europe at the Danish Institute for International Studies.

In May of last year, President Ilves accepted the proposal of the President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso; Vice President, Neelie Kroes; and EU Commissioner, John Dalli, to chair a high-level advisory work group, which was tasked with shaping the future of e-health in the European Union. The group consists of representatives of patients, the medical profession, the pharmaceutical and ICT industries, legal experts and politicians from different countries. Promoter of e-health and family doctor Madis Tiik is representing Estonia in the working group as an expert. The final report of the working group to be submitted to the European Commission will include their proposals on using the e-health solutions to achieve a safer, patient-focused and more efficient organisation of health care, which also extends to the spheres of diagnostics, prevention and treatment.
