President Ilves expressed condolences to Belgium

"I was shocked to hear about the tragic bus accident that took place last night in Switzerland. There is no consolation or remedy for the hurt caused when a tragedy strikes children and young people," wrote the President Toomas Hendrik Ilves, in his letter of condolences that he sent to the King of Belgium, Albert II.

"Please accept the words of condolence from me and the people of Estonia to the next of kin and friends of the deceased, and to the people of Belgium. We all do hope for a speedy recovery for those who were injured in this extremely tragic accident," President Ilves wrote. "Estonia keeps you in its thoughts at this difficult moment."


A bus accident occurred last night, 13 March, in Switzerland: 28 people, including 22 children, were killed in the crash according to the latest information.
