President Ilves expressed condolences to the Great Britain

08.03.2012

The Estonian Head of State expressed his condolences to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the death of six British soldiers in an explosion in the southern Helmand province, Afghanistan.

"I was deeply distressed by the news of the tragic loss of six soldiers who were killed in southern Afghanistan yesterday. Once again, evil has demonstrated its presence in the most tragic way and has resulted in one of the biggest single losses of life for British military since the beginning of the conflict in Afghanistan ten years ago," wrote President Ilves.

"I am shocked and mourn with you and I bow my head in memory of the victims. I would like to ask you to extend my profound condolences to the families and friends of these brave soldiers."
