President Toomas Hendrik Ilves publishes book of conversations with Iivi Anna Masso

07.02.2012

Although Omal häälel /In His Own Words/ talks about President Ilves' life and beliefs, it is neither an autobiography nor a memoir. The conversations put into words by Iivi Anna Masso are designed to give readers an insight into the way he thinks. The book presents President Ilves as a statesman and thinker, but also as an ordinary man and as an Estonian with an interesting past. It covers the years he spent in Sweden and the United States, the work he did for Radio Free Europe and his return to Estonia and discusses the key problems facing the country today and its outlook for the future.

The book was originally published in Finnish under the title Omalla äänellä in autumn 2011. It contains photos taken by the press as well as from President Ilves' personal collection.
