President Ilves will make a visit to Poland

On Wednesday 9 November, President Toomas Hendrik Ilves will fly to Poland for a two-day visit, where he will meet with President Bronisław Komorowski and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, as well as participate in the opening panel of the annual meeting of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR).

According to the Estonian Head of State, relations between Estonia and Poland are those of two good friends. “Poland as an influential country in the Baltic Sea region and, more generally, Europe is a firm and responsible partner for Estonia in the areas of activity that are important for both of us, such as the European Union and NATO,” President Toomas Hendrik Ilves said at his meeting with Polish Head of State Bronislaw Komorowski in March, when the latter was on a working visit to Estonia.

The eighth annual meeting of the European Council on Foreign Relations, which is taking place in Poland, will focus on various current topics related to foreign relations, such as the European financial crisis and future of the European Union. President Ilves will be participating in the opening panel of the annual meeting titled The Reinvention of Europe along with former German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer, British politician David Miliband, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski and Alexander Stubb, Finland’s former Minister for Foreign Affairs and current Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade.

The Estonian Head of State will arrive back in Estonia on the evening of 10 November.
