President Ilves met with the CEO of Microsoft

14.05.2011

The President, Mr. Toomas Hendrik Ilves, met in Tallinn today with Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft, who is on a one-day visit and who this week announced the purchase of Skype.

Mr. Ballmer assured President Ilves that Microsoft and Skype intend to rely upon Estonian talents for a long time and, if possible, to increase the numbers of their personnel here.

At their meeting, President Ilves introduced Estonia’s e-experiences and gave a more comprehensive overview of the European Union e-health working group, which he leads, as well as cyber defence.

“When an Estonian company does something very good, this creates interest throughout the world. Skype is an example of this,” President Ilves said.
