The President, Mr. Toomas Hendrik Ilves, will abandon his planned trip next week to Shanghai EXPO, Estonian day, due to health concerns. Doctors diagnosed the Head of State as suffering from an acute respiratory infection, and they recommended that he avoid long plane travel and changes in his regular rhythm, due to jet lag and other possible complications.

According to President Ilves, he feels fine and will not introduce any major amendments to his working schedule in Estonia over the next few days. He will participate in the European Union Baltic Sea Strategy conference tomorrow and award the President’s Educational Awards; on Friday, the President will participate in the Discussion Forum in Pärnu Concert Hall.
