President met with new Finnish prime minister

President Toomas Hendrik Ilves met with new Finnish prime minister Mari Kiviniemi today, who was making her first official visit to Estonia.

Discussions between President Ilves and Prime Minister Kiviniemi focused on economic problems in Estonia and Finland and more broadly in the European Union as a whole. They also spoke at length about the Baltic Sea Strategy as an opportunity to development the internal market within the European Union and the free movement of goods and services within the Baltic Sea region.

Also discussed were the current and potential future transport links between Estonia and Finland and Central Europe and energy security.
