President Ilves to fly to Israel on state visit

President Toomas Hendrik Ilves will begin a state visit to Israel tomorrow.

During the three-day state visit, the Estonian head of state will meet President of Israel Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Knesset opposition leader Tzipi Livni and Governor of the Bank of Israel Stanley Fischer.

President Ilves will visit Ramallah, where he will meet President of the Palestinian National Authority Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Salam Fayyad. In Ramallah, Ilves will also take part at the opening of a seminar on e-government held as part of Estonian development assistance.

President Ilves will be accompanied on the state visit by Chancellor of Justice Indrek Teder, Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications Juhan Parts, Minister of the Interior Marko Pomerants, Riigikogu members Silver Meikar and Toomas Varek, Secretary of State Heiki Loot, Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces Lieutenant General Ants Laaneots and a business delegation of several dozen members.

Ilves will return to Estonia late on 29 June.
