The President of the Republic promulgates six laws

02.10.2009

Today in Kadriorg, President Toomas Hendrik Ilves signed a resolution promulgating the laws listed below. President Ilves expressed hope that once the law amending the Gender Equality Act and the Equal Treatment Act had entered into force, the matter brought against Estonia before the European Court of Justice would be dropped and Estonia would escape being penalised for the delay in transposition of the directives on the equal treatment for men and women.

- the law amending the Plant Propagation and Plant Variety Rights Act and Associated Acts, which was passed by the Riigikogu on 16th September 2009;

- the law amending the Radiation Act, which was passed by the Riigikogu on 16th September 2009;

- the ratification act of the Agreement Between the Government of the Republic of Estonia and the Government of the United States of America on Scientific and Technological Cooperation, which was passed by the Riigikogu on 23rd September 2009;

- the law amending the Gender Equality Act and the Equal Treatment Act, which was passed by the Riigikogu on 24th September 2009;

- the law amending the Universities Act, the Organisation of Research and Development Act, the National Library of Estonia Act, the Private Schools Act and the Institutions of Professional Higher Education Act, which was passed by the Riigikogu on 24th September 2009;

- the law amending the Vocational Educational Institutions Act and the Study Allowances and Study Loans Act, which was passed by the Riigikogu on 24th September 2009.
