The discussions at the meeting focused primarily on the topic of balancing the national budget.

“Along with keeping the budget balanced for the current year, it is just as important, if not more so, to balance the budget for 2010,” the Head of State emphasised, calling up the ruling parties to actively cooperate with both the opposition and extra-parliamentary interest groups.

President Ilves meets regularly with representatives of governmental institutions and political powers to discuss the country’s political and economic situation. On Tuesday, President Ilves met with Edgar Savisaar, the Chairman of the Centre Party, and today the Head of State meets with Prime Minister Andrus Ansip.
