“The minority government provides the Riigikogu opposition with greater influence to participate in decision-making “The minority government provides the Riigikogu opposition with greater influence to participate in decision-making and I hope that you use this opportunity responsibly,” President Toomas Hendrik Ilves said at today’s meeting with Marek Strandberg, the main spokesperson of the Estonian Green Party, which belongs to the parliamentary opposition.

According to the Head of State, the minority government will increase mutual consideration among the parliamentary parties, which is good, although this can also cause decisions to be delayed in matters where Estonia needs quick solutions in order to overcome the economic crisis.

The passage of a negative national budget and the possible principles for compiling the 2010 budget were also discussed at the meeting.
