The Members of the Board of the President of the Republic’s Cultural Foundation have decided to present this year’s Young Cultural Figure Award to Marius Peterson The Members of the Board of the President of the Republic’s Cultural Foundation have decided to present this year’s Young Cultural Figure Award to Marius Peterson, a person outstanding for his diversified contribution to culture. Aside from his work as an actor and director, Mr Peterson is active as a musical director, music composer, radio writer, designer, and translator.

The President, Mr. Toomas Hendrik Ilves, will bestow the award on Marius Peterson on Wednesday, 3rd June at 15:30.

The prize is intended for Estonian cultural figures under 35 years of age, whose artistic achievements have found broad recognition and whose work and cultural activities have significantly contributed to the promotion of Estonia and its culture worldwide. The Young Cultural Figure Award is financed by Mr. Toomas Luman, a Member of the Cultural Foundation Board.

The Young Cultural Figure Award will be bestowed for the eight time. In previous years, the recipients of the Young Cultural Figure Award have included poet Kristiina Ehin (2008), ballerina Luana Georg (2007), composer Helena Tulve (2006), director Jaanus Rohumaa (2005), conductor Anu Tali (2004), literary critic Jan Kaus (2003) and composer Tõnu Kõrvits and folk musician Krista Sildoja (2002).
