President Ilves met with the Foreign Minister of Armenia

Today’s meeting between President Toomas Hendrik Ilves and Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian focused on the situation in the South Caucuses.

The Estonian Head of State acknowledged Armenia’s closer contacts with Turkey and Azerbaijan.

“As a member of the European Union and a country interested in a peaceful existence for Europe, Estonia supports the increase of security and stability in the South Caucuses and the peaceful resolution of the conflicts in the region,” President Ilves said. “It is in the interest of all of us that the zone of prosperity uniting countries that act and think alike be expanded.” The Estonian Head of State affirmed support for Armenia’s aspirations toward the European Union and readiness for cooperation with Armenia through development projects.
