President Ilves congratulated Kardo Ploomipuu, winner of a bronze medal at the Paralympics

President Toomas Hendrik Ilves phoned Kardo Ploomipuu who won the bronze medal in the Men's 100 m Backstroke S10 at the Paralympics in Beijing today.

“I am proud that we have such accomplished men, whose perseverance in training and outperforming in competition help them reach the pedestal of Olympic heroes,” the Head of State said.

In Beijing, Evelin Ilves placed the Paralympics bronze medal around Kardo Ploomipuu’s neck.

“This was a powerful sight, a true athletic experience, where Kardo put all his will and self-confidence into play,” Evelin Ilves said.
