The President of the Republic accepted credentials from the Ambassador of the Principality of Andorra

09.06.2008

President Toomas Hendrik Ilves met with Jaume Gaytán Sansa, the new Ambassador to Estonia from the Principality of Andorra, who presented his credentials last week in Kadriorg.

At the meeting, President Ilves expressed his satisfaction that Andorra decided to appoint an ambassador to Estonia, by saying that this will certainly add momentum to the communications and cooperation between the two countries, which is very important in the case of small countries. He said, “Estonia could intensify its cooperation with Andorra in both international organizations as well as bilaterally in the fields of economy, culture and tourism.” According to the Head of State, Andorra is already familiar to Estonians as a winter tourism destination and therefore greater emphasis could be placed on introducing Estonia as a travel destination in Andorra.

Discussions at the meeting also included the possibilities for exchanging experiences in the information and telecommunications field. “Since Andorra is emphasizing development in the IT sector, Estonia is ready to introduce the development stages we have already completed. This type of cooperation could be useful and interesting for both parties,” President Ilves noted.

Ambassador Sansa resides in Lisbon.
