Yesterday at a formal dinner organized at the Toronto Estonian House, President Toomas Hendrik Ilves, who is on a working visit to Canada, presented decorations to Maret Truuvert, Helgi Sooaru, Toomas Metsala, Illar-Johannes Lipson, and Erich Rannu, who are Estonians living in Canada.

In his speech, the President spoke to an audience of almost four hundred about Estonia’s development path after the restoration of independence and the influence of the Estonian community in Canada on the well-being of their ancestral homeland.

Yesterday morning, the Head of State also met with David C. Onley, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario and visited the Ehatare Nursing and Retirement Home built by Canadian Estonians.
