10.04.2008

Yesterday in Kadriorg, President Toomas Hendrik Ilves received Ambassador Milorad Šćepanovic of Montenegro who presented his credentials.

The Estonian Head of State expressed his satisfaction regarding Montenegro’s decision to name an ambassador to Estonia and noted that this step will undoubtedly bring the two countries closer together.

"The relations between Estonia and Montenegro are good, but there is room for closer ties at all levels. Our economic relations also definitely need to be enlivened," President Ilves said at the meeting, adding that all this is helped by the opening of Montenegro’s mission in Tallinn.

Estonia was the first country to conclude diplomatic relations with Montenegro. Ambassador Šćepanovic, who is also Deputy Foreign Minister of Montenegro, resides in Podgorica.
