President Ilves met with the OECD Secretary-General

At a meeting yesterday with Angel Gurria, the Secretary-General of the Organisaton of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), President Toomas Hendrik Ilves thanked him for promoting the enlargement policy of the organization.

“Estonia thanks the OECD for its accession invitation and you, as the Secretary-General, for your personal contribution to starting up the enlargement process,” President Ilves said.

“Estonia is interested in sharing its economic policy experiences with other OECD members, while Estonia also wishes to learn from OECD expertise on structural economics,” the Head of State affirmed. According to the President, as a member of the OECD, Estonia will have an additional opportunity to participate in global topics, even those that are not treated within the framework of the European Union.
