The President of the Republic became familiar with the Jaan Poska House

01.02.2008

Today in Kadriorg, President Toomas Hendrik Ilves visited the restored house of Jaan Poska, a signer of the Tartu Peace Treaty, and onetime Foreign Minister of Estonia and Mayor of Tallinn.

A tour of the house was provided for the Head of State by Tallinn Mayor Edgar Savisaar, with whom President Ilves also discussed problems related to the development of the capital.

“The restoration of the Jaan Poska House is a fitting expression of thanks and recognition for one of our great historical figures, who helped to fix the Republic of Estonia on the world map and provided the first direction to the foreign policy of the young state,” said President Ilves.
