Estonian President proposed Indrek Teder to the Riigikogu as the candidate for Chancellor of Justice

Today, President Toomas Hendrik Ilves sent his formal proposal to the Riigikogu for the appointment of Attorney at Law Indrek Teder as the Chancellor of Justice.

“Consultations with the representatives of the parliamentary fractions show that a majority of the Riigikogu is ready support Indrek Teder’s candidacy for Chancellor of Justice,” said the Head of State. “Considering his positions, personality traits, and professional experience, I consider Indrek Teder to be qualified to fulfill the assignments of the Chancellor of Justice.”

According to the Constitution, the President of the Republic makes the proposal for the appointment of the Chancellor of Justice to the Riigikogu, and a majority of votes in a secret ballot in the parliament is necessary for the approval of the appointment.
