Evelin Ilves is the patron of the Eesti Agrenska Foundation

05.10.2007

Evelin Ilves accepted an invitation from the Eesti Agrenska Foundation, which has founded a rehabilitation and counseling center for the families of disabled children, to become the foundation’s patron.

“It is significant that this center deals with the families that are raising disabled children, which can cause stress that affects the quality of life in the entire family, and therefore advice and support is also needed by the mother and fathers, sisters and brothers,” said Evelin Ilves, who today along with Queen Silvia of Sweden placed the “cornerstone” for the renovation work at the Tammistu Manor near Tartu. After the renovation, this will be the home of the Eesti Agrenska Foundation.

The idea for the foundation was born in Sweden near Göteborg at the Agrenska Foundation counseling center for disabled children and their families, which is one of the founders of the Eesti Agrenska Foundation. The other founders of the foundation are the University of Tartu, the Estonian Chamber of Disabled People, Tartu University Hospital, and Stenströms Skjortfabrik Eesti OÜ.

“This is an initiative that we must all support,” said Evelin Ilves. “Every person and every family is important to us.”
