President of the Republic received the credentials of the Ambassador of Hungary

Today in Kadriorg, President Toomas Hendrik Ilves received Jozsef Vigi, the Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary, who presented his credentials.

According to the President of the Republic, relations between Hungary and Estonia, especially in the field of cultural cooperation, have been very close and warm through the years. At the meeting with the Ambassador, President Ilves brought forth the distinguished work of the cultural institutions of the two countries in introducing Estonian and Hungarian culture. “However, I see that Estonia and Hungary have room for development and the potential for increasing momentum in trade and economic relations, in which one field of cooperation is definitely tourism,” noted President Ilves.

Jozsef Vig stressed that as Ambassador he will make a contribution to closer economic ties between the two countries.

At the meeting, the intensification of cooperation between Hungary and Estonia in the European Union as also discussed, as was the celebration of the 70th anniversary of cultural relations between the two countries to take place in Estonia in November of this year.

Ambassador Jozsef Vig of Hungary was also accredited to Estonia in 1999-2000.
