President of the Republic will visit Valga County

Tomorrow morning, President Toomas Hendrik Ilves and Mrs. Evelin Ilves will go on a two-day visit to Valga County.

At the beginning of the visit, they will plant a tree at the Otepää Upper Secondary School and the Head of State will speak at the ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the Otepää Upper Secondary School.

President Ilves and Mrs. Evelin Ilves will meet with local government leaders in Valga County, with whom the development of local government will be discussed. At the Valga-Valka border checkpoint, they will also meet with representatives of the Border Guard, Police, Tax and Customs Board, and the City of Valga, with whom cross-border cooperation, including the situation after the expansion of the Schengen visa space, will be discussed.

At a meeting with the members of the Valga Brigade of the Defense League, the President wishes to express support for the activities of the members of the Defense League and discuss the role of the Defense League in guaranteeing internal security.

President Ilves and Mrs. Evelin Ilves will also visit the Tehvandi Sports Center Foundation, the Sangaste crafts workshop, OÜ Linnu Talu in Tõlliste Rural Municipality that deals with raising poultry and producing eggs, the 2007 Most Beautiful Home in Valga County or Kuiksilla Farm, the Pühajärve Hotel and Spa, the Rukki Maja, a catering and lodgings establishment in Sangaste, AS Ritsu, a log house manufacturer in Helme Rural Municipality, Torupillitalu that deals with tourism, and the Greete Motel in Puka Rural Municipality, which is the largest log building in the Baltic countries.

In Otepää and Valga, the Head of State will lay wreaths in commemoration of those who died in the War of Independence.
