President Ilves: We can be proud of having built up Estonia

“We have a good understanding of our statehood, it has developed significantly,” President Toomas Hendrik Ilves remarked in his interview to Radio Kuku, which was broadcast at noon today, on the 16th anniversary of the restoration of Estonian independence.

“Statehood is not simply an ideal to dream about, it is also the task to solve the most vital problem – how to secure the welfare of the people of Estonia,” the Head of State said.

“People have understood that the rule of law is important, that it is important to live in a democratic country; and we can be proud of having built it up ourselves,” President Ilves said at the radio interview.
