President Ilves congratulated Valdis Zatlers on becoming the Latvian Head of State

President Toomas Hendrik Ilves sent a communications to Valdis Zatlers, who was elected Head of State by the Latvian Parliament.

“I am sincerely happy to forward the heartfelt congratulations of Estonian people and myself to you on the occasion of being elected the President of the Republic of Latvia. Let me wish you every success in this honorable position,” wrote President Ilves.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to continue promoting the excellent mutual relations between our countries, and to further improve our effective cooperation in the European Union and NATO. I hope that we find the opportunity shortly to meet in person and to discuss topics that are important to both of us,” wrote the Estonian Head of State.
