The President of the Republic met with the Foreign Minister of Ukraine

In today's meeting of the President Toomas Hendrik Ilves with Foreign Minister of Ukraine Boris Tarasjuk beside Estonian-Ukrainian relations also cooperation of Ukraine with the European Union and NATO was under discussion.

In the words of President Ilves Estonia is ready to support in every way the aspirations of Ukraine concerning the EU and NATO and encouraged Ukraine to continue its reforms. ''Estonia has invaluable experience in that field and it would be a mistake not to share them with our friends,'' the President said.

Foreign Minister Tarasjuk extended President Viktor Jushchenko's personal greetings to President Ilves and thanked him for sincere support.

At the meeting President Ilves expressed his conviction that the scheduled visit of the President of Ukraine to Estonia in December this year would be fruitful.

Ilves and Tarasjuk are linked with years-long cooperation and friendship, they met for the first time while being both foreign ministers about ten years ago.
