The President of the Republic received the Letter of Credentials of the Ambassador of France

26.10.2006

President Toomas Hendrik Ilves today at Kadriorg received Ambassador of the Republic of France Daniel Labrosse who presented his Letter of Credentials.

In the words of the President of the Republic the relations between France and Estonia have been close and warm through the years and would certainly become even more intensive now when we have a number of joint projects within the framework of the European Union and NATO. President Ilves commended the work of previous French ambassadors and expressed hope that the same warm relationship would continue also during Ambassador Labrosse’s term of office.

In the words of Ambassador Labrosse France is ready to intensify political dialogue between our countries both in the issues concerning Europe and broader international politics. “The opinions of the new member states have to be listened to and they can only enrich the common opinions of the European Union about the big challenges that we all have to face,” the French ambassador said.

Ambassador Labrosse recalled with gratitude the personal role of President Ilves in popularising French language studies among Estonian civil servants.
