President Toomas Hendrik Ilves today at Kadriorg received the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia Vojislav Šuc who presented his Letter of Credentials.

In his greeting address the President of the Republic said that he had worked together with several Slovenians and had often visited that country. Undoubtedly our countries have to work together a lot in the future to make us heard, since small countries could often be ignored, President Ilves added.

''Estonia hopes to learn a lot from Slovenia as Slovenia is the first country to hold the EU presidency among the countries that acceded the European Union in 2004,'' the President of the Republic said.

In the words of the Slovenian Ambassador within the European Union and NATO Estonia and Slovenia are becoming even closer allies in dealing with important European and global issues. ''Our cooperation and exchange of views will be further reinforced in next period since Slovenia is preparing itself to overtake the EU presidency in the first half of 2008,'' Ambassador Šuc said.
